My First Day..

Hello all and sundry...

Im sorry bcoz it takes some time to update my blog. I should have updated this blog during my first day here but this is my second week. Any Tom, Dick or Harry know why?  It’s hard to come out with a new idea… Hmm... This time, I come out with an essay. It has been 6 years since SPM, but now I start to practice my writing. I found that it is a good kick off to blow the cobwebs away. It took five days to finish this essay. I hope that you guys enjoy it.

My life as student begins after a long semester break. I dwell in a more spacious room (approximately 110 feet square with 2 students for each room and double decker bed) than the last semester. As a matter of fact, It is very comfortable and more privacy. Maybe this is my last semester staying at Perwira Residential College. I meet with new friends which are also my new roommates. I am an extrovert and affable person. I can get along with them very well, like a bird of a feather flock together. I am the only one FSKTM’s students here. It is quite challenging when it comes to study. My fate entwine with difficulties. However, a calm sea does not make a good sailor. I can survive, hold on and do not give up the ship. I need to wake up in the small hours to prepare for the class.  Since that my last semester result is very disappointing, above all, I need to put more effort for this semester. Nothing daunted me. I started to believe that hard work will bear fruit. Dilligence is the mother of good fortune. Frankly, I don’t know why this thing must happen to me. My mom, PA and other families pin their hope on me. I feel like a great force, a large physical object with a great mass on my shoulder, intimidating me with its weight. What if I can’t fulfill them, it’s humiliating. So many questions crowd my brain at once, making it impossible to think normal, functional thoughts. Do not meet troubles halfway. Life goes on.

On my first day, I wake up early. I look at the clock at my phone placed under the pillow. It’s 6.35. I yawn. I rise and lean forward on my knees; listening to sound of birds chirping in the early morning, reminiscent me to a proverb, “Early bird cacthes the worm”. Vis a Vis with real life circumtances. My bed is adjacent to the windows. I jump out from the bed and shove open the windows. The morning breeze blowing on my face and chills down my spine. I take a deep breath and gazing out the windows. I see a murder of crows on the roof beside my block. Some of them are carrying blades of grasses on their beak. I wonder. Is this mating season for the crow? A grotesque and scavenger life being that none of society wants to know about this species but not for me. I will search some facts about crow and surely I will keep that on top of my to-do-list. Then, I recall a proverb says about crow, “A crow on the thatch, soon death lifts the latch”. It means that when a crow lands on the roof of a house, a person in family will die. A superstitous belief that bird can bring bad omens. Absurd. Maybe this event had occurred in the dim and past but to me it’s just post hoc ergo propter hoc. A piece of a churchyard fits everybody and we will face the same fate one day.

I am eagerly to attend the class and meet my friends, a look of sheer of exhilaration on my face. I smile and soliloquize. I get myself ready and eat like a bird. Its 7.30, the sunlight strengthens on my wall with its splendour light. I praise to Lord, The Exalter, Lofty and the Best of Creators. I will ensure that my room is spick and span before leaving. I wait at the bus stop at 7.45 in a long queue. I missed the first bus because some students jump the queue. The best adjective than can describe them is – inconsiderate. It makes me feel quite exasperated. I ask the driver to stop in the proximity of my faculty which is Faculty of Science Computer and Information Technology. I wait for the timetable to be pasted on the notice board. I wander around the faculty while searching for vacant lab to surf internet. I end up by sitting in the Tutorial Room on the first floor. As I enter the room, the air conditioning and lights switch on automatically. Wow, I came to amaze. I sit on a chair with my feet propped up on the desk. I play some music from my phone. All days are short to Industry and long to Idleness when I have nothing to do. I keep waiting and waiting. Its 9:45 o’clock now. My phone ring, it’s from Rosilla, my best friend. She just arrived at faculty. Without any hesitation, I dash to ground floor. I see her from behind, walking with Sharon. She dresses in purple. I lunge and push her from the back.
